JBL’s technical team is comprised of professionals who have combined to drill, plan, and complete thousands of wells worldwide in plays across Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, Pennsylvania, New York, the Middle East, South America, Latin America and Russia in all major conventional and unconventional basins. 

23 year track record of procuring and divesting of oil and gas leases, mineral and royalty interests and production in the lower 48 states through his own partnerships and joint ventures. Through the years Jason has raised over $450 million of investor capital. His most recent large transactions included lease divestitures to Halcon Resources (Woodbine) and Terrace Energy LLC (Woodbine). Previously, Jason sold Rocky Mountain prospects to Bill Barrett Corp as well as multiple prospects to Chesapeake Energy across East Texas. Additionally, Jason has operated and or participated in the drilling of wells in Texas, Louisiana, Montana and Wyoming. He has led all of his partnerships since 2002 with partners ranging from family offices to hedge funds. He has been directly involved in the leasing of over 650,000 prime acres for his partnerships. Also in the royalty field, Jason has sold multiple royalty packages to private equity backed companies including NGP portfolio companies as well as Noble Royalties.

Jason Lane

Chief Executive Officer

22 years of experience in capital markets and energy finance including over 7 years as part of JBL as CFO. Scott possesses core competencies in deal negotiations and structuring, financial sponsor relations, financial modeling and budgeting. Scott is a seasoned CFO who has led over $375 million of transactions in the energy industry with a specific focus on private equity, structured credit and asset-backed finance. In 2011, Scott led and developed the first Alaskan Oil and Gas Tax Credit receivable finance facility which served as the model for all subsequent transactions. Scott holds a MS in Mathematical Finance from NYU’s Courant Institute, and a BS Chemical Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University.

Scott Bernstein

Chief Financial Officer

Operations Manager with over 30 years of hands on operations experiences in all areas the oil and gas business. A Petroleum Engineer with an MBA he has demonstrated technical competence as a Production, Completion, Drilling and Reservoir Engineer in his career. He has experience onshore and offshore both in the US and in several overseas locations. The former Operations manager for Lime Rock he ran the drilling, completion and field development for 2300 wells in the Permian, Delaware, Anadarko and Arkoma Basins as well as he Bakken. As a consultant he has led the planning and evaluation two potential Permian Basin acquisitions. He served as the CEO for Keldur Petroleum for a Delaware Basin bid and recently served as the Operations manager for Pearl Resources in a Pecos County Wolf Camp horizontal development. Mike was the VP of drilling for Lewis Energy at the early onset of the Eagle Ford and built and led the team that drilled and completed over 800 wells in the Eagle Ford and Escondido formations in South Texas. He has served on the Energy Forum Board, a shale think Tank on completions, and has given talks at several Shale and Business Forums. He has served as a member of SPE for over 25 years and is on the Deep Water Symposium Committee as a Cementing Expert. He has been recognized as the Drilling Engineer of the year by the SPE in 2010.

Mike Loudermilk

Chief Operating Officer

40+ experience in drilling, completion, and production in both engineering and operations. His experience spans the US in the Permian/Delaware basin, northern Rockies, South Texas, South Louisiana, Fayetteville Shale and Marcellus. His international experience includes the North Sea, northern Latin America (Venezuela, Trinidad, Columbia, Mexico), Canada (Alberta and New Brunswick), Dubai, and Turkmenistan. He has had both technical and managerial roles for operators and service companies including Conoco, Enron Oil & Gas, Mobil, ExxonMobil, Southwestern Energy & Anadrill/Schlumberger, DBS, Baroid Integrated Services. Project highlights where Mr. Dew held lead responsibilities are: 1 of 2 initial Drilling Engineers responsible for development of the Fayetteville Shale in Arkansas; engineered and operationally supported first horizontal well in the Southern Sector of the UK North Sea, and was drilled for only 17% over the cost of the normal directional wells; designed the first horizontal well for Dubai Petroleum Corporation which led to development of the Southwest Fatah field previously deemed too thin for commercial development with normal drilling and completion practices; engineered and operationally supported two high angle (>75°) wells through multiple reservoir blocks including the M35 well drilled through 9 reservoir blocks with four 2 ppg pore pressure changes at 77° inclination; engineered and provided operational support for 18,000 ft acid gas (H2S and CO2) injection wells which involved advanced metallurgy and cement design; wrote training manual chapters on Carbon/Oxygen and Casing logging, a Wellhead training manual with accompanying Wellhead specifications; developed wireline plot to indicate hydrocarbon productivity and has three patents.

Ed Sew

Senior Drilling Engineer

Over 33 years of experience as completions and operations engineer who has held various technical and managerial positions in both office and field roles for major service providers and operating companies. Mr. Bajoie is a skilled petroleum engineer with extensive technical expertise in maximizing recovery/rates and completion efficiencies of unconventional, shale, sandstone and carbonate reservoirs at depths from 3,000 to 25,000 feet. Most recently prior to JBL Mr. Bajoie served as the Completions Operations Manager for Apache Corp.’s Eagleford Shale/ South Texas assets. Mr. Bajoie also served in a Senior Completions capacity for Venoco in their California assets, as well as for Encana Oil & Gas for 5 years in multiple different shale basins. Earlier in his career, Mr. Bajoie served in various roles for Haliburton over the course of 15 years culminating as Country Technology Manager for their operations in Saudi Arabia. Additionally Mr. Bajoie served for 2 years at BP as a Senior Completions Engineer. Mr Bajoie’s experience includes operations in North America, Saudi Arabia, North Africa and Russia with extensive horizontal unconventional shale well (Niobrara, Haynesville, Monterey, Eagle Ford, Woodford, Stack/Scoop, Canyon Lime) design, execution and management. Mr. Bajoie is adept at solving challenging well problems, keeping projects moving forward using new technology while decreasing cost, increasing operational efficiency and executing operations safely and on time. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana Tech University and has authored and co-authored numerous SPE and Petroleum Journal Papers.

Byron Bajoie

Completions Engineer

Over 35 years as reservoir engineer including over 10 years working with JBL, specializing in evaluating developed and undeveloped properties for acquisitions, dispositions or SEC reporting. Ms. Seaman was employed at Swift Energy Company from 1982 to 2008. Her last position was VP Acquisitions, Dispositions, and Reserves from 1996 to 2008. As VP, Ms. Seaman managed a team of geoscientists and engineers, coordinating with land, legal, operations, and accounting, to buy and sell producing and undeveloped properties. She was responsible for coordinating with a consortium of 8-10 banks biannually to determine the company’s corporate line of credit. Ms. Seaman has served as the leader or evaluation engineer on more than $1 billion of acquired property with purchases ranging from $1 million to $275 million. She has extensive experience with complex partnership structures and joint venture agreements. Ms. Seaman has a BS Chemical Engineering and MS Business Administration. In 2010, Ms. Seaman founded Radius Resources and purchased a group of producing wells, along with undeveloped acreage. Since then, she has continued to evaluate developed and undeveloped property working as a consultant.

Tara Seaman

Reservoir Engineer

12 years of experience as a geoscientist and manager. Prior to JBL Mr. Bailey was with Anadarko Petroleum for balance of his career. His primary focus was on US onshore horizontal development including the East Texas Haynesville and Cotton Valley, Marcellus, Eagleford/Eaglebine, and most recently the Delaware Wolfcamp and Bone Spring. As a geologist, he was instrumental in designing the field development program for Anadarko’s Marcellus asset as well as serving as the regional geologist for Anadarko’s
Eagleford asset. He has served as the geoscience manager for Anadarko’s Marcellus, Eaglebine, Hugoton, East Chalk, and Ozona assets where his team was responsible for field development as well as putting together the geologic story, inclusive of uphole and downhole potential, for an approximate $2B asset divestiture. He also served as the geoscience manager for the Delaware Basin Subsurface and Technology group where his team was responsible for the regional geology, understanding the economic viability of targets across the basin, and developing downhole data acquisition programs to ultimately derive the development recipe for the field. His performance lead to his most recent position as Asset Manager for Anadarko’s southern Delaware asset where he was responsible for driving the development and business for over 50k gross acres. Mr. Bailey has an undergraduate and master’s degree in geology from the University of Alabama.

Ryan Bailey

Vice President Geo-sciences

33 years experience as a Geoscientist including 10 years with JBL. Mr. Hoffman is a proven hydrocarbon finder responsible for discoveries in Texas Lobo-Wilcox-Yegua, Ark-La-Tex, Offshore Gulf of Mexico, Texas Gulf Coast, West Texas, New Mexico, and South Louisiana. In the 2000’s Fred was instrumental in targeting successful plays for Sierra Pines Resources and Subsurface Consultants, McAllen Oil & Gas, Icarus Oil & Gas and Pioneer Exploration, where he spent a combined eight years. Fred spent 7 years at Trans Texas Gas Corporation in the 90’s where he was responsible for the discovery of over 300 bcf of gas and 222 completed wells.
He spent 7 years at Diamond Shamrock Corporation in the 80’s where he was one of the pioneers of the Arkansas Smackover play, as well as worked for Petro Hunt LLC and Sierra Pines Resources in the 2000’s. Fred holds a BA in geology from Hofstra University.

Fred Hoffman

Senior Geo-Scientist

27 years of experience in all phases of land work including 12 years with JBL. Matt has been instrumental in negotiating leases with key landowners at favorable terms for JBL in the acquisition of the Woodbine projects in the JBL portfolio. He is a key builder and maintainer of relationships for JBL aided by his depth of experience and acute knowledge of what is important to landowners in the negotiation process. During 2006-2008, in his own venture, Matt successfully demonstrated his acumen for lease flipping heading a management team that successfully bought and sold over $30 million of leasehold in the Barnett Shale Play at significant returns to investors. Matt has previously done contract work for Chesapeake, Encana and Exco. His specific specialized skills include mineral title research, production of run sheets, lease acquisition, title curative, seismic permitting, right-of-way acquisition, due diligence, contract in-house land, and large multiple-crew responsibilities. Matt holds a BS in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University.

Mathew McEachern

EVP Land

18 years of experience in land and E&P management. Mr. Holseth is an experienced Oil and Gas professional who has held multiple positions throughout his career. Mr. Holseth served as a Senior Land professional at Halcón Resources for over 5 years where he was responsible for numerous acquisitions and divestitures while overseeing land functions on 110+ producing East Texas wells HBP over 80,000 acres, including title review, shut-in payment scheduling, WI partner communication, AFE’s for workover proposals, handling communication between all departments from production to division orders. Previously Mr. Holseth served as  Land Manager for Grayson Mill Energy, LLC performing  land operations on the company’s 40,000 acre position in the Powder River Basin and  also served as  President of Backwater Energy Partners, LLC where he operated 10 producing horizontal wells while managing over 140,000 acres in the Louisiana and Mississippi area. Mr. Holseth attended Brazos Port Community College and has completed multiple professional education courses on topics including Right of Way and various Legal and Title matters.
